My family and I came back home EARLY Wednesday morning, to no electricity but thankfully we had a home to go back to. We got power back on Saturday afternoon, and we are in a distinct minority. On Friday, 100% of my parish still had no power - this means that we have no sewage system, have contaminated water, no gas stations, no stores, nothing open. Thank god for Governor Bobby Jindal - the state bought generators and distributed them to strategic gas stations so that people can re-fuel their cars and generators, and eventually so that they could open grocery stores (with limited supplies, but at least they were open). Also, a big thanks goes out to the National Guard who every day when curfew wasn't in effect, handed out water, ice, M.R.E.'s (food), and tarps for roofs.
So thank you all for your concern, it is greatly appreciated, and I'm happy to say that I'm alive and safe. Now we just have to watch hurricane Ike...
